A North American game publisher iWin wanted to create a game version of massively popular TV show Deal or No Deal for mobile devices. While game development was tasked to another studio iWin still needed a reliable partner to create the visual part of the game, that why they reached N-iX Game & VR Studio.

Objectives

IWin is a leading game distributor and publisher with more than 100 game titles for mobile and PC published. The Client specializes in casual, family-friendly games, and as one of their projects, they decided to create a game Deal or No Deal. The game is based on the same-named mass-popular TV show allowing a player to feel like one of its competitors. Deal or No Deal was targeting Android and iOS-based mobile devices.

IWin already had a development team on their side and tasked N-iX Game & VR to do all the modeling and create animations for Deal or No Deal mobile game.

Workflow

IWin provided the N-iX Game & VR studio with the necessary information, references, and shared with us their vision of the project, so we started the production process without hesitation.

One of the most recognizable features of Deal or No Deal show are girls with cases. To recreate them in the mobile game N-iX team created a single model and developed a customization system that allowed to change skin color, body type, height, and hairstyle of the models. This method allowed our team to create a large number of different models with minimum time. Apart from that, our team modeled a studio, leaning on references, that perfectly suited the style of the TV show.

Our team paid extra attention to the animation of girls. To make all moves of the models realistic and smooth, we used motion capture technology.

It was important that the models’ facial expression changed, depending on the amount of money in each briefcase. Using Maya, our team created a lot of blendshape animations and compilated them into a simple unity-based generator; this gave the Customer a quick way to adjust and customize girls’ facial expressions.
