Game Maker Studio 2 is a cross-platform game development technology developed by YoYo Games. It enables developers to build games within a single code base and publish them on multiple platforms including Android, iOS, HTML5, PS4, Xbox One, Windows Desktop, and others. N-iX provided configuration testing of Game Maker Studio 2.
YoYo Games is a software and game publishing company famous for creating game development technology. GameMaker Studio 2, its game development engine, is the 2D development environment that allows creating cross-platform video games in different genres.
YoYo Games engaged N-iX to test the engine on the computers with various configurations and combinations of software and hardware to ensure the best performance of the platform.
The client provided a testing scenario with the preferred software and hardware configurations. Also, we received the game engine build with a game demo for testing.
Our specialists launched multiple runs on different computers with various combinations of operating system versions, hard drive types, CPUs, and RAMs. The team tested the game engine on three different operating systems including Windows (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10), Linux, and MacOS. We used different processors ranging from low-end AMD and Intel versions to the high-end ones.
Throughout the cooperation period, we maintained close communication with our client to fulfill all their requirements. What is more, the team contributed to functional testing and reported the bugs to the customer. For submitting and documenting bugs, we used Mantis Bug Tracker.
N-iX team met all the client’s requirements while performing configuration testing of GameMaker Studio 2. We completed three testing passes, which included testing on Windows, Linux, and MacOS as well as a number of hardware devices with various configurations.
As a result, GameMaker Studio 2 was successfully launched in March 2017.
